Irena Beliakova

Biographical Information:

Irena Beliakova is a native of Russia, a master iconographer, and a specialist restorer of art and artifacts. She began her vocation more than twenty years ago under one of her future in-laws, the famous Russian artist Xena Pochrovskaya. She completed her training at the University of Folk Art in Moscow and, upon graduation, became an iconographer for the Central Workshops of the Moscow Synod of Bishops. Irena's work has been exhibited in the United States and abroad. She has completed hundreds of commissions, restorations, illuminations, and icon patterns for both institutions and private collections all over the world, especially in the USA, Canada, Germany, and Russia. Most notably, Irena has been commissioned by significant institutions in Washington, D.C.; The Russian Embassy, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, The Russian Orthodox Cathedrals of St. Nicholas and of St. John the Baptist, and the National Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul. She also apprentices several students through the Iconography Group and studio workshops.
